📰 Hello, Munich! — Hallo, München!

🗞️ Magazine article no. 1: Yara Al-Sayed's first morning in Munich — greetings, introductions, and asking about a job, in very simple German.

☀️ Eight in the morning in a new city

Yara Al-Sayed is a new student from Tunisia. Yesterday she arrived in Munich, and today she leaves her flat for the very first time. The street is quiet, the air is clear, and her heart is beating fast.

Es ist acht Uhr. Yara ist neu in München. (It is eight o'clock. Yara is new in Munich.)

👋 A friendly neighbour

On the stairs, Yara meets an older woman. The woman smiles and starts talking:

Frau Bauer: Guten Morgen! (Good morning!)

Yara: Guten Morgen! Ich heiße Yara. Wie heißen Sie? (Good morning! My name is Yara. What is your name?)

Frau Bauer: Ich heiße Bauer. Willkommen in München! (My name is Bauer. Welcome to Munich!)

🌍 Where from? And what job?

Frau Bauer is curious, but polite. She asks Yara about her country and then about her work:

Frau Bauer: Woher kommen Sie? (Where are you from?)

Yara: Ich komme aus Tunesien. (I come from Tunisia.)

Frau Bauer: Was sind Sie von Beruf? (What is your profession?)

Yara: Ich bin Studentin — hier in München. (I am a student — here in Munich.)

😊 The golden sentence before goodbye

Before Yara continues on her way, they exchange the most famous sentence in German:

Frau Bauer: Wie geht es Ihnen? (How are you?)

Yara: Mir geht's gut, danke! Und Ihnen? (I'm fine, thanks! And you?)

Frau Bauer: Auch gut! Auf Wiedersehen! (Also fine! Goodbye!)

🎉 A good start

Yara walks toward the university with a smile. Her very first German conversation was a success! The city is big, but the morning is beautiful.

Der Morgen in München ist gut! (The morning in Munich is good!)
