1. 🏚️ New Words — Furniture (Möbel)
These are the furniture and room words — very important for describing where something is:

2. 📍 Location Prepositions — Lokale Präpositionen
Location prepositions tell us where (Wo) something is. In German, these prepositions take the Dativ case.
The 8 most important location prepositions:

🔑 The Rule: Wo? = Dativ
When you ask "Wo ist ...?" (Where is ...?), the answer uses the Dativ case.
in + dem = im an + dem = am bei + dem = beim
Simple Examples:

| Das Bild ist an der Wand. | The picture is on the wall. |
⚠️ Note: Feminine nouns (die) become der in Dativ. Neuter (das) and masculine (der) become dem. Plural (die) becomes den.
Article changes in Dativ:

🧠 Tip: In plural Dativ, add -n to the end of the noun: die Tische → den Tischen / die Stühle → den Stühlen (unless it already ends in -n or -s).
3. 🗣️ Conversation — At Home (Zu Hause)
Dialogue 1: Where is the cat?
Person A: Hallo! Wo ist die Katze? Person B: Die Katze ist unter dem Tisch. Person A: Und wo ist das Buch? Person B: Das Buch ist auf dem Sofa. Person A: Und der Ball? Person B: Der Ball ist neben dem Schrank.
Translation: Person A: Hello! Where is the cat? Person B: The cat is under the table. Person A: And where is the book? Person B: The book is on the sofa. Person A: And the ball? Person B: The ball is next to the wardrobe.
Dialogue 2: Furniture in the room
Person A: Wo ist das Bett? Person B: Das Bett ist im Schlafzimmer. Person A: Und die Lampe? Person B: Die Lampe ist zwischen dem Bett und dem Schrank. Person A: Wo ist der Tisch? Person B: Der Tisch ist vor dem Fenster.
Translation: Person A: Where is the bed? Person B: The bed is in the bedroom. Person A: And the lamp? Person B: The lamp is between the bed and the wardrobe. Person A: Where is the table? Person B: The table is in front of the window.
Dialogue 3: Where do you live?
Person A: Wo wohnst du? Person B: Ich wohne in einer Wohnung. Person A: Ist die Wohnung groß? Person B: Ja, sie ist groß. Sie hat drei Zimmer. Person A: Was ist in der Küche? Person B: In der Küche sind ein Tisch und vier Stühle.
Translation: Person A: Where do you live? Person B: I live in an apartment. Person A: Is the apartment big? Person B: Yes, it is big. It has three rooms. Person A: What is in the kitchen? Person B: In the kitchen there is a table and four chairs.
4. ✍️ The Rule in the Simplest Way
Location prepositions = Answer to "Where?"
Wo? → in, auf, unter, neben, zwischen, hinter, vor, an + Dativ
