📰 Omar at the Doctor — Omar beim Arzt

Omar is sick today. A short story about the doctor and sick leave — at A1 level.

Es ist Montagmorgen. Omar ist nicht fit. Sein Kopf tut weh, und er hat Fieber. Er bleibt im Bett.

(It is Monday morning. Omar is not feeling well. His head hurts, and he has a fever. He stays in bed.)

Um zehn Uhr ruft Omar in der Arztpraxis an. Er braucht einen Termin. Die Frau in der Praxis sagt: „Sie können um elf Uhr kommen."

(At ten o'clock Omar calls the doctor's office. He needs an appointment. The woman at the office says: "You can come at eleven o'clock.")

Beim Arzt fragt der Doktor: „Was fehlt Ihnen?" Omar antwortet: „Mir ist kalt, und mein Kopf tut mir weh." Der Arzt schaut Omar in den Hals und sagt: „39 Grad. Sie haben eine Erkältung."

(At the doctor's, the doctor asks: "What is wrong with you?" Omar answers: "I feel cold, and my head hurts me." The doctor looks into Omar's throat and says: "39 degrees. You have a cold.")

Der Arzt sagt auch: „Trinken Sie viel Tee und schlafen Sie viel." Er schreibt einen Zettel für den Chef. Das ist die Krankschreibung. Omar muss drei Tage zu Hause bleiben.

(The doctor also says: "Drink lots of tea and sleep a lot." He writes a note for the boss. That is the sick note (Krankschreibung). Omar must stay home for three days.)

Nach drei Tagen ist Omar wieder gesund. Er geht wieder zur Arbeit. Seine Kollegen sagen: „Willkommen zurück, Omar!"

(After three days Omar is healthy again. He goes back to work. His colleagues say: "Welcome back, Omar!")
