📚 Core Rule
When an adjective is used as a noun it takes a definite article and the gender that belongs to the adjective’s meaning: - Neuter for abstract qualities (e.g., das Gute – the good). - Masculine for male persons or professions (e.g., der Alte – the old man). - Feminine for female persons or professions (e.g., die Kleine – the little girl).
