These are the most important words for describing how you feel when you are sick:

🏷️ Remember: der = masculine, die = feminine (and plural), das = neuter. Illness words are often plural (like Kopfschmerzen).

🔑 How to say "I have..."?
In German we say Ich habe + Symptom:

🔑 How to say "... hurts"?
We use weh tun (to hurt) + Dativ:

Dialogue 1: I am sick
Person A: Hallo! Wie geht es dir? Person B: Mir geht es nicht gut. Ich bin krank. Person A: Was hast du? Person B: Ich habe Kopfschmerzen und Fieber. Person A: Oh, das ist nicht schön. Gehst du zum Arzt? Person B: Ja, ich habe einen Termin um 10 Uhr.
Translation: Person A: Hello! How are you? Person B: I'm not well. I am sick. Person A: What's wrong with you? Person B: I have a headache and a fever. Person A: Oh, that's not nice. Are you going to the doctor? Person B: Yes, I have an appointment at 10 o'clock.
Dialogue 2: At the doctor's office
Arzt: Guten Tag! Was fehlt Ihnen? Patient: Guten Tag, Herr Doktor. Mir geht es nicht gut. Arzt: Haben Sie Schmerzen? Patient: Ja, mir tut der Kopf weh und ich habe Husten. Arzt: Haben Sie Fieber? Patient: Ja, ich habe 38 Grad Fieber. Arzt: Okay. Ich schreibe Sie krank. Hier ist die Krankschreibung für drei Tage. Patient: Danke schön!
Translation: Doctor: Good day! What's wrong with you? Patient: Good day, doctor. I'm not well. Doctor: Do you have pain? Patient: Yes, my head hurts and I have a cough. Doctor: Do you have a fever? Patient: Yes, I have a fever of 38 degrees. Doctor: Okay. I'll write you a sick note. Here is the sick certificate for three days. Patient: Thank you very much!
Dialogue 3: Calling work
Person A: Firma Müller, guten Tag. Person B: Guten Tag, hier ist Anna Schmidt. Ich bin krank. Person A: Oh, was haben Sie? Person B: Ich habe Fieber und Halsschmerzen. Ich kann heute nicht kommen. Person A: Okay. Bleiben Sie zu Hause und werden Sie gesund! Person B: Danke! Ich melde mich wieder, wenn ich gesund bin.
