🗞️ When the Neighborhood Takes Charge — Wie unser Viertel sich selbst half

A neglected square, forty neighbors and one meeting in a school — how frustration turned into a beautiful project without waiting for anyone.

Unser Viertel hatte einen Problemplatz: einen alten Parkplatz hinter dem Supermarkt, voller Müll und ohne eine einzige Bank. Trotz des kalten Regens trafen sich an einem Freitagabend etwa vierzig Nachbarn in der Turnhalle der Grundschule. Alle wollten dasselbe: Aus diesem öden Platz soll etwas Schönes werden.

Zwar gab es am Anfang hitzigen Streit, aber niemand ging beleidigt nach Hause. Je länger wir redeten, desto klarer wurde die Lösung: Wir machen beides nebeneinander.

Ohne auf die offizielle Antwort zu warten, begannen die Nachbarn schon zwei Wochen später mit eigenen Aktionen. Sie organisierten einen Flohmarkt und einen Kuchenverkauf und sammelten damit Geld für Pflanzen und Farben.

Nach drei Monaten kam schließlich die frohe Botschaft: Die Stadt unterstützte das geplante Projekt mit Material und einem kleinen Team vom Bauhof. Gemeinsam bauten wir Bänke, pflanzten junge Bäume und bemalten die graue Wand bunt. Auch die Kinder halfen mit — natürlich unter Aufsicht ihrer Eltern.
